Wisconsin Farm Bureau Increases Reward for Terrorists
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WISCONSIN: In response to a recent spate of animal rights attacks, Sheboygan County Farm Bureau is now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions.
In the first two weeks of August, animal rightists launched three attacks in Wisconsin, two in the quiet Sheboygan County town of Plymouth (pop: 7,093). Thousands of domesticated mink were set loose from two fur farms, and on Aug. 9, an arson attack at United Feeds, a feed mill for the fur industry, caused $1.5 million in damage.
The Farm Bureau already had a standing reward of $500 available for incidents involving farm thefts and vandalism, but decided to double it for the Plymouth incidents.
“Animal rights terrorism is a new and serious threat to Wisconsin’s farms,” said Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation president Dan Poulson. “I urge farmers and farm neighbors to keep close watch on suspicious cars, people and activities around farms and report them to local law enforcement authorities.”
The increased reward matches that offered by the Sheboygan County Conservation Association, bringing the total reward to $2,000. The Association made a pledge of $1,000 to Congressman Thomas Petri at an Aug. 26 rally of farmers and other concerned citizens calling for commitment from the government, law enforcement and politicians to end terrorist attacks against farmers.
