Wild fur prices seen advancing

NORTH AMERICAN FUR AUCTIONS HAS LAUNCHED ITS BIGGEST WILD FUR CAMPAIGN EVER, with China as the main target. With mink prices having already recovered from last year’s slump, the company is putting all its promotional efforts into its Northern Lights wild fur program in hopes of substantially improving wild fur prices. Articles like muskrat, which have been dressed and manufactured in China, now are being consumed there, it points out. Others, like coyote, marten, fox and even fisher, are finding their way into that domestic market. In order for a manufacturer or retailer to participate in the campaign, they must purchase all their wild furs from NAFA.

The company is forecasting price increases for all wild furs over last May levels. However, it sees articles that were dominated by Russia having lesser increases as the Russian economy continues to recover from last year’s financial crisis.
