Copenhagen International Fashion Fair Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Fashion garnished with fur wherever possible
Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) opened today its 25th fair which, true to form, featured an impressive trend show at the fair grounds of Bella Centret.
The show, which forecast the fashion for spring/summer 2006, was garnished with fur wherever possible. Fur accessories in the shape of bags and mobile phone "shoulder–bags" were particularly popular along with fur capes and boleros and a fur top for the chilly summer nights. Many of the fur items were produced by Kopenhagen Fur's Trend Lab.
The trends that were forecast by Nelly Rodi, the accomplished Paris–based trend bureau - and styled by one of Denmark's hottest stylist agencies, Style Counsel - featured super models such as Lykke May and revolved around four themes: "Rustic Soul", "Totem", "True Folk", and "Rich Land".
The Rustic Soul styles were poetic, with a bohemian spirit, while the Totem look takes inspiration from the primitive art of Africa and the True Folk was both chic and simple, a cross between the rural and the gypsy look held in natural fabrics. Rich Land was altogether different with its Miami glam, strong colours and shiny fabrics.
To mark the anniversary, CIFF and Kopenhagen Fur have put together a sublime fashion, music and dance show in Tivoli Gardens for guests that include the Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark as well as Denmark's top designers. The Show will be broadcast live on national television. Prior to the show, Kopenhagen Fur will host an exclusive reception for the royals and other VIPs.
Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, which is Northern Europe's largest, takes place from August 11-14 and is only open for professionals. It is part of the biannual Copenhagen Fashion Week which features fashion shows and events across town.
