INTERNATIONAL FUR TRADE FEDERATION PRESS RELEASE, FEBRUARY 21, 2005

IFTF Releases Latest Fur Sales Figures
6th Consecutive Year of Growth for International Fur Retail Sales

The latest statistics for the global value of retail sales of fur garments, trim and accessories for the year 2003-2004 have been published today. The results of the survey carried out by the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF) within its membership show an increase in international fur retail sales for the sixth consecutive year running.

Global fur sales have increased by 2.8 % in the year 2003-2004 to a figure of $11.7 billion, compared with $11.3 billion in 2002-2003.

"Fur is a must-have fashion item and very much part of today's lifestyle," said Mr Andreas Lenhart, Chairman of IFTF. "Strong interest in our product continues both with the fashion world and with consumers, and this is reflected in this very positive result for our industry."

Notes to editors:

1. IFTF figures cover retail sales through traditional fur retail outlets. They do not include fur sold through fashion houses.

2. IFTF is an independent federation of 33 national fur trade associations and organisations representing 27 countries.
