Fur for Men Could Be a Valentine's Day Hit According to National Research!
Remember when Marilyn and Ella crooned to their lovers to cover them with diamonds and furs? Men are still buying their sweethearts jewelry and furs for Valentine ... but times have changed! A new national poll indicates that men now also want to buy fur ... for themselves!
A Fur Council of Canada survey conducted by the NFO/Canadian Facts Group in December revealed that men are now as interested as women in buying a fur coat in the next 12 months. Eight per cent of men in Quebec (10% Ontario) already sport furs. And since 61% of Canadian men planning to buy fur now say it is for themselves rather than a gift, we will soon see the number of men looking cool in fur significantly increase in Canada!
Fur for men is without doubt a strong trend of the past few winters. P. Diddy and Sean Paul launched the fashion in their music videos. Leading labels such as Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, Zuki and Jean Crisan played it up in style and featured fur for men in their recent collections. Fur trimmed garments and fur jackets for men are now available in a wide range of prices and styles in a growing number of ready-to-wear boutiques across Canada. Fur brings to menswear an unmannered stylish detail that men can easily accept.
The trend doesn't surprise Steve Zuckerman of Jean Crisan Furs. "The 'metrosexual' has discovered the sensual beauty and warmth of fur," he believes. Marketing specialists say that this new breed of young heterosexual professionals who take care of their appearance as much as women do, is one of the fastest growing groups in western societies. As the name suggests "metrosexuals" tend to live in urban areas - which would explain why, according to the survey, Montreal and Toronto men are particularly interested in fur.
So ladies, want to surprise your man with a hip gift for Valentine's Day? No need to go to Paris or New York to treat your man to a trendy present ... after all, you live in the country that produces the most beautiful furs in the world. Go for it!
