INTERNATIONAL FUR TRADE FEDERATION PRESS RELEASE, JUNE 30, 2004
IFTF PR Committee Gives Green Light to 2nd International Young Designer Competition Young fur designers from around the world have been given the go-ahead to start work on their entries for the second International Fur Trade Federation international design competition. The IFTF PR Committee met earlier this month to review the Federation's ongoing communications programme, and rubber-stamped proposals for 2005's design competition. The contest is open to schools, students and young designers who have graduated within the past two years. A maximum of three entries may be submitted via each IFTF member association, to arrive by the closing date of Friday 26 November 2004. All submitted garments will be displayed in a special exhibition at MIFUR 2005, when an international jury will select the winners on the basis of creativity and imagination, technical understanding and feasibility of production, and "saleability." The theme for the 2005 competition is "Rites of Passage". Robert Liska, PR Committee Chairman, said: "Last year, we were really excited by the enthusiasm and talent of the many people who entered our contest. This year we are focusing on young designers only, and look forward to seeing plenty of fresh ideas and innovative ways of using fur. We hope that the competition will go from strength to strength, and become a regular fixture in the international fur calendar." At the PR meeting, held in Copenhagen, representatives also discussed further consumer fashion promotions, consumer research, website redevelopment and internal PR support for the trade. Note: The IFTF International Fur Design Competition is open to designers who have already entered the national competition organised by their local IFTF member association.
