The Best Fur Designers
Simone Wins First IFTF Competition
MILAN: Italian designer Fabio Simone won the title as best fur designer last night at the first ever international IFTF designer competition which was held at the Milanese nightclub C-side. The three winning creations were chosen by the International Fur Trade Federation, MIFUR and international designers in collaboration. The winner won the title for his purple rabbit suit for men.
"I can't believe I've won this prize, I'm so excited to be here!" said Fabio. "To have had my design recognised and to be invited to Milan was fabulous and now to have been given the prize as well, I'm very honoured and would like to thank everyone at IFTF and MIFUR." American Ramon Coleman came in second for his pink ladies coat of mink inspired by his stay at Saga's design centre in Denmark last year while Canadian Richard Madden came in third for his masculine combination of leather and fur.
The three competitors were all very qualified and the judges had a hard time picking out the final winner who was awarded a week long stay at Saga's design centre.
"I am glad that Fabio won the contest because he has never been to Saga," says Ramon Coleman.
The three winners, all young men between the age of 24 and 28, spent the last week together in Milan. "That has been a great and constructive experience," says Ramon Coleman who enjoyed exchanging ideas with other young designers.
