FUR COUNCIL OF CANADA PRESS RELEASE, MARCH 30, 2001
Exhibitor Space "Sold Out" for NAFFEM 2001 MONTREAL: Exhibition space at the North American Fur and Fashion Exhibition-Montreal is now officially "sold-out", as the trade prepares to build on the increasing consumer interest in fur and high-end outerwear. NAFFEM (May 6 to 9, 2001) is the only trade show in North America that specializes in fur and leather fashions and outerwear in precious fibres. "The surging popularity of fur in fashion circles has significantly increased interest in the Montreal NAFFEM by both exhibitors and new buyers above and beyond our expectations," said exposition manager Lina Romano. "We have increased our exhibitor space by 10 per cent this year, and we already have a waiting list for next year's show." Extensive mailings of more than 10,000 promotional packages, increased advertising in international trade publications and NAFFEM promotional materials at key RTW shows have attracted the attention of a large number of new buyers, resulting in a record number of enquiries and early registrations. The fair's website is also bringing in new buyers. "Buyers are coming to the source for fur fashions and high-end outerwear. We are receiving calls from ready-to-wear, outerwear and accessories retailers, and high-end specialty boutiques from across North America, Europe, Russia and Asia. We also have new exhibitors this year from Italy, England, Greece and as far a field as India," said Romano. The NAFFEM 2001 programme of activities includes a glamorous Gala event and runway presentation on opening day (Sunday, May 6th), on-site daily fashion shows, a trend presentation and international runway report, marketing seminars geared to retailers and the NAFFEM Trend Forum, presenting the latest fur trends and treatments with its signature blend of whimsy and innovation. The new FurWorks Canada collections of innovative "sportswear in fur" for Winter 20012002, will also be launched at the Montreal NAFFEM 2001. The Montreal NAFFEM, now in its 19th annual edition, is produced by the Canadian Fur Trade Development Institute (CFTDI).
