Norway's Highest Court Confirms Fur Farming As Valid Sector of Agriculture

THE HIGHEST COURT IN NORWAY has declined to hear an appeal against supportive decisions by lower courts on the issue of fur farming in Norway. This, once again, confirms that fur farming is in compliance with the country's animal protection law, according to the International Fur Trade Federation.

On August 15, the Appeal Committee of the Supreme Court of Norway declined to hear an appeal filed by the Federation for the Protection of Animals in Norway. The Federation had previously lost two cases against fur farming, one in Eidsvoll Municipal Court and another in the Eidsivating Court of Appeal.

Both cases, and the final rejection of the appeal by the highest court of the land, confirm that fur farming is a valid sector of Norwegian agriculture and a respectable way to earn a living.
