New video explains “Origin Assured” label

LABEL DEPT.: The International Fur Trade Federation has created a four-minute video explaining the Origin Assured label, which has been designed to give both designers and consumers an informed choice.

It provides consumers with an assurance that the fur carrying the label comes from a country (or countries) where welfare regulations or standards governing fur production are in force. Use of the label is monitored by COTECNA, an independent international monitoring organization. For the film, visit www.originassured.com.

Meanwhile, Kopenhagen Fur has decided to abandon its Purple Club whose label signifies quality. The reason, says the company, sadly, is that auction house labels signifying quality don’t – in consumers’ minds – measure up to their choice of manufacturer or retailer. The purple label, however, will still be given to buyers of its top-quality pelts.
