AMERICAN MINK COUNCIL NEWS, JANUARY 28, 2002
New Executive Director at American Mink Council
AMERICAN MINK COUNCIL president James Bogus announced Jan. 28 the appointment of Doug Kelly as AMC’s new executive director.
In a 16-year career in the fur industry, Kelly has been a key executive with both the Seattle Fur Exchange and the Hudson’s Bay Fur Sales New York with senior responsibilities in the functions of treasury, accounting and credit, relating directly to both ranchers and buyers. He was also responsible for computer systems development, and particularly catalog programming, in both auction companies.
Kelly succeeds Bill Evans, who became marketing director of AMC when it was formed in 1990. Under Evans’s direction, AMC became a major shareholder in North American Fur Producers Inc., the principal owner of North American Fur Auctions and a key player in the North American Fur Association.
“Since Evans announced his retirement intentions, the Board has considered several outstanding candidates for this position,” said Bogus. ” We are fortunate to have attracted an experienced executive of Doug’s caliber, who has had such an excellent rapport with the buyers and ranchers during his career, and who thoroughly understands the challenges of this industry.”
