NAFA Considering Hong Kong Sale
IT HAS BEEN LEARNED THAT NORTH AMERICAN FUR AUCTIONS is contemplating holding an auction in Hong Kong next year. NAFA recently added Sept. 2 to its 2011 auction schedule. No venue was specified, nor is it ordinarily, so it was generally assumed it would be held at home in Toronto. However, NAFA subsequently sent letters to ranchers advising them that it is investigating the potential of an auction in Hong Kong. Reached late last week on his return from Korea, president and ceo Michael Mengar confirmed Hong Kong is being considered and that Sept. 2 is a possibility. But, he pointed out, a final determination is a long way off.
This would be the second overseas auction held by NAFA, the first having been held in Hong Kong 15 years ago. That event was a joint venture with China Animal By-Products Auction and held in the Hong Kong Convention Center, where it was managed by China Fur Auctions.
