Back to Montreal Hails Golden Age of Fur

There will always be a place for traditionally styled fur, such as these luscious fox fur coats …… but fur can also be FUN! Here, for example, we have natural color mink bubbles (left), dyed fox (center), and dyed mink yarn, or “lilac dreadlocks” (right).Austere but modern, all at once — butter-soft sheared mink in jewel tones.Leading the way in innovation is Paula Lishman, pioneer of knitted fur — in this case, beaver.Far from Beverly Hills and Fifth Avenue, fur has clothed indigenous Americans since time immemorial. At the Nunavut Inuit booth we find fox-trimmed hats and sealskin booties …… and a range of traditional folk art.
