Fur show marks 50 years for Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology

WITH EXPECTATIONS FOR THE APPROACHING SEASON IN CHINA RUNNING HIGH, Saga Furs helped give it a strong sendoff last week. Together with the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, it sponsored an international fashion institute fur show featuring the designs of students from 12 institutions in nine countries with which Saga has had a long-term partnership. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of BIFT, which has become one of China’s most prestigious specialized universities and a prime source of the next generation of Chinese designers.

Saga supplied the furs, which included mink, fox and finnraccoon, and helped the schools find furriers to make the actual pieces. Themes for each collection were developed by the individual institutions, the students supplying the texts and music recommendations for the runway presentation. The show was attended by over 1,000 v.i.p. guests and the pieces were auctioned for a charity in China.
