BRITISH FUR TRADE ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE, DECEMBER 1, 2005
BFTA Opens Fur Design Competition to Students
The British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) is offering fashion students the opportunity to explore the use of fur in fashion and discover the endless opportunities available. This is the second year the BFTA Fur Design Competition has been run and it is being offered to students at fashion colleges throughout the country.
The competition brief requires students to design an innovative womenswear collection with a commercial feel.
Fur is an integral part of today’s fashion industry. Currently over 300 fashion designers are using fur in their collections.
Finalists will take part in a workshop with a designer and have the opportunity to learn more about the techniques possible when working with fur. Winners will make up their garment. There is also a cash prize and the overall winner will be entered into the International Fur Trade Federation’s international competition.
