Ex-British MP to Head International Fur Trade Federation
THE INTERNATIONAL FUR TRADE FEDERATION, after a several months’ search, has appointed a former British MP as its chief executive officer.
Mark Oaten, 46, who took up his new duties last week, spent nine years in Parliament and has a background as a lobbyist with a number of Westminster public affairs companies.
As previously reported (SPR, Aug. 16, 2010) the 60-year-old organization is going through an overhauling that includes equalization of trade-sector and geographical representation on the board and the recruiting of a ceo with political, communications and management skills. Also on the agenda is an office in Brussels, which has become Europe’s political capital, but the London location will be retained. Juliette Bailey remains under contract as executive director.
