Attendance Soars at Beijing Fur Fair
THE RECENT BEIJING FUR FAIR was rated a success in terms of both attendance and the amount of business written.
This was the 37th annual China Fur & Leather Products Fair which until 10 years ago was known as the Canton Fair. Its growth – both physically and in importance – is linked directly to the development of the Chinese market itself. Now occupying the new China National Convention Center, the event featured over 300 exhibitors (including 60 foreign) in about 330,000 square feet of space on two floors.
Attendance, which is limited to the trade, was reported at 16,500, an increase of 35% from last year. Most of that increase came from domestic visitors, but the foreign presence also was greater, an indication of the constant search for new products and ideas and – in the current climate of high prices – fresh-looking items in lower price brackets.
